Compliance Officer

For our Luxembourg office, we are looking for a Compliance Officer

As a Compliance Officer, your main responsibility will be to ensure an efficient delivery of our legal services. You will streamline and safeguard recurring processes and activities such as client on-boarding and matter intake, perform regulatory and conflict checks, and ensure that personal data and confidential corporate information are processed with due care. Mindful of the firm's legal practice, their various strategies and the differences between jurisdictions, you will advise on the best possible way to implement software tools and hardware systems. The firm's interests will be your number one priority. Keeping up-to-date with legislative and commercial developments at regional and global level is a key responsibility. You will identify gaps and new potential improvement areas, monitor and review existing policies, protocols and procedures, and deliver clear in-house communication. You will be building strategic partnerships with external parties ranging from supervisory authorities to professional organisations. You will turn feedback from internal audits, complaints or claims into best practices. You will be responsible for devising and conducting awareness training for partners and staff. Reviewing and keeping up-to-date our firm's code of conduct and whistleblower policy also fall within your duties, as is maintaining a close working relationship with the HR department. In this challenging, multi-faceted position, you will need a good understanding of and contribute ideas to the legal practice, be creative and not be afraid to take a stand. Planning and organising comes natural to you, you like to take initiative, have powers of persuasion and a keen sense of relations-in-place. You are results-driven, able to communicate clearly in a job that requires resilience and a strong team player attitude.

If the above fits you and you have gained at least 2-3 years of experience in a Compliance role, preferably within a Luxembourg law firm, we would like to talk to you. Your responsibilities: • Keeping update and controlling client acceptance files with respect to AML/KYC/CTF rules; • Ongoing analysis of the files to ensure that KYC/AML obligations are performed in compliance with Luxembourg applicable laws and regulations; • Managing KYC/AML controls ensuring that clients are screened, reviewed and documented according to the applicable laws and regulations as well as in-house KYC/AML guidelines; • Insuring the follow-up of the files’ status and archiving the relevant documents in our database; • Preparing the follow-up KYC reports; • Insuring name screening according to our policy; • Applying compliance policies and methods in line with the firm’s ambition; • Awareness of the dynamics and decision-taking process within a professional services firm; • Supervisory experience is an asset; • Able-bodied interdisciplinary sounding board for management • Insuring AML/KYC identification of clients, ultimate beneficial owners and service.

Your key responsibilities: • Providing conflict checks & name screening according to our procedures; • Controlling and validating the Risk Management Approval in our workflow; • Saving and archiving the KYC files in our relevant database (digital & paper); • DAC6 follow-up; • Follow-up on our files’ engagement letters.

The ideal candidate • Master Degree or post graduate degree in Law; • At least 2-3 years of experience in a Compliance role preferably within a Luxembourg law firm; • Strong knowledge of the relevant rules and regulations in respect of the Luxembourg AML/KYC laws; • Excellent organizational and computer skills; • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization with high professional work ethic; • Excellent command of English and French, both written and verbal. Knowledge of German or Dutch would be considered as an advantage; • You have excellent interpersonal skills and team spirit.
