“In Brussels we wanted to create the same openness and accessibility that we have in all our AKD offices"

Astrid Andriessen, office manager in Brussels: “It looked so simple: when McGuire Woods joined us in December 2018 the initial idea was: all staff from Louizalaan will move to Koloniënstraat, and at the end of January 2019 we’ll have one single office in Brussels, and that’s it! But in the end, a refurbishment and redesign was required, causing inconvenience, so we decided that all colleagues at Koloniënstraat would first move to Louizalaan on 1 April.

The refurbishment took three months to complete and at the end of June everyone from Louizalaan moved to the Koloniënstraat office. On Monday 24 June, we finally started at the new office. Loads and loads of boxes. But now, mid September, we start feeling at home in our new office.”

Jolanda Loomans, Facility Manager: “In Brussels we wanted to create the same openness and accessibility that we have in all our AKD offices. By placing glass partition walls in the offices, our colleagues now have more light and visibility on the work floor. The new common lunch and coffee corner was also designed with that idea in mind.”

“The Office Support colleagues moved to the entrance side of the floor; the original reception area was no longer required.”

The views of the Cathedral of Saint Michael and Saint Gudula are very special.
